About us

In March 2008, driven by the legacy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe OBM to bring Jewish light to another point on the globe,  Rabbi Shimon and Michal Pelman set out to establish Chabad in the Dominican Republic for the very first time.

Rabbi Shimon Pelman is a Yeshiva graduate and ordained Rabbi, and is also certified in Circumcision, Kosher slaughtering (Shechita), and scribal arts (Safrut). He always knew that he wanted to fulfill the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s mission and open a Chabad house of his own, and has therefore prepared himself with the skills needed to create a leading Chabad institution.

Mrs. Michal Pelman, holding a Master’s degree in Education, has also set her goal to build a Chabad House that provides spiritual and communal services to every Jew, tourist, and visitor.

From the moment they arrived in the Dominican Republic, the couple dedicated all their energy to establishing the first Chabad House, aiming to create a warm and welcoming place for every Jew, regardless of who they are. From day one, they embraced the slogan of “Chabad Lubavitch - Jewish Life in the Dominican Republic”. This slogan remains the foundation of the spiritual support they offer to every Jew on the island.
